How many dots is a 4×6 label at 203 DPI?
A 4×6 inch label at 203 DPI is 812 dots wide (^PW812) and 1218 dots tall (^LL1218). 203 DPI equals 8 dots per millimetre, or roughly 203 dots per inch, so 4 × 203 ≈ 812 and 6 × 203 ≈ 1218.
What is the difference between 203 DPI and 300 DPI?
203 DPI (8 dpmm) is the standard resolution for most desktop Zebra printers and Amazon FBA labels. 300 DPI (12 dpmm) packs more dots into the same space, producing sharper small text and fine barcodes — useful for FNSKU labels or dense 2D codes. The same physical label has ~2.2× more dots at 300 DPI.
What do ^PW and ^LL do in ZPL?
^PW sets the print width in dots and ^LL sets the label length (height) in dots. If these don't match your label stock, ZPL content can be clipped on the right edge or run onto the next label. Setting them to the values from this calculator ensures the printer uses the full label.
Do I need to change DPI to convert a label?
